Revised Form I-9 Coming Soon

Jul 14, 2017 | Hiring an Employee, Labor Laws

A revised form I-9 is coming soon from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Beginning on September 18, 2017, all employers – including household employers – must use the revised Form I-9. The new version will be available on Monday, July 17, 2017, but employers can continue to use the current form (revised in November of 2016) until September 17, 2017. This new form will only apply to new employees – current employees do not need to fill out a new form.

The revised form includes some changes to the list of acceptable documents for Form I-9 verification, but otherwise the changes are minimal and mainly limited to the language used on the form. You can view the details about the changes here.

GTM will provide any further updates as necessary. Contact us for more information at (800) 929-9213 to learn how we keep household employers compliant with labor laws.
