  • Minimum Wage
    • in Washington State, the current minimum wage is $15.74/hour.
      • In Seattle, the rate is $18.69/hour or $16.50/hour if you contribute at least $2.19/hour toward an employee’s medical benefits.
  • Workers’ Compensation
    • in Washington State, household employers are required to carry workers’ compensation coverage if two or more employees each work 40 or more hours per week, or if an employee is providing nursing care.
    •
  • Overtime Rules
    • hourly employees in Washington State are required to be paid at least time and a half for hours worked over 40 in a seven-day workweek. Overtime compensation is not required for live-in employees and isn’t required when work is performed on a holiday.
