It’s National Nanny Recognition Week. How will you show appreciation for your nanny?

This week is National Nanny Recognition Week. That means it’s time to appreciate the nannies who take care of our children so we can go to work. While always treating your nanny with honesty and respect is a year-round responsibility, this week is set aside for a little extra show of gratitude.

In-home caregivers not only watch our kids but may also cook, clean, do laundry, and other household tasks all while giving us peace of mind that our loved ones are safe. Some nannies even become “part of the family.”

Here are nine suggestions to show your nanny that you appreciate the work they do and what they mean for your family.

A thank you note and/or homemade present from your children can make this recognition even that more special.

Subscription to Nanny Magazine

Nanny Magazine features trusted tips, expert insights, and childcare advice that can help your nanny achieve “next-level nannying status” and feel connected to the “nanny world.” There are print and digital subscriptions available. Subscribe to Nanny Magazine and use code NNRW18 to save 50 percent on a digital subscription.

Membership in the International Nanny Association

Another career-boosting resource is membership in the International Nanny Association. This non-profit organization provides information, education, tools, and guidance for professional nannies. There are also opportunities to connect with other nannies and develop valuable relationships that can help them with their jobs.

During National Nanny Recognition Week, INA is offering $10 off all individual memberships. Use code NNRW18new (or NNRW18renew if your nanny has a current or lapsed membership).

Nanny Certificate Course through NannyTraining.com

Nannies can learn more about basic child safety, children’s health and nutrition, emergency readiness, and more through online courses at NannyTraining.com. The site also offers a 13-lesson, CACHE-endorsed learning program led by award-winning and industry expert Michelle LaRowe. During National Nanny Recognition Week, NannyTraining.com is offering 15% off their Professional Nanny Certificate Course. Use promo code NNRW2018.

Gift Card to a Favorite Restaurant, Store, Salon or Movie Theatre

Your nanny can pamper herself, shop, enjoy a great meal, or catch the latest movie on the big screen.

Tickets to a Concert, Show or Sporting Event

Look at concerts or shows coming to your area. Is she a big fan of a local sports team? Consider getting tickets so she can enjoy her favorite performer or root on her team.

Cash Bonus or Raise

A little extra cash is always a great (and welcomed) idea! Or, perhaps now is the time to have a performance review and consider a raise for a job well-done.

Extra Day Off

Add a day of paid time off (PTO) and give your nanny a little extra time off for herself. Or perhaps you surprise her by coming home early and giving her an afternoon off.

Donation to Your Nanny’s Favorite Cause

Is there a cause or charitable organization your nanny cares deeply about? Donate to that group in their name.

Dinner Out or Family Meal

If you’re close with your nanny, you may want to consider taking them out to dinner at their favorite restaurant or making them a meal at your home.
