Our Story

Founded by Guy Maddalone, GTM has a deep-rooted passion for supporting families and businesses, and we understand the importance of working with a trusted partner. We deliver more than payroll; we provide unwavering reliability.

Guy’s entrepreneurial spirit began at a young age. Growing up in Upstate New York, he was the eldest son of 13 children, surrounded by the hard work and resilience of self-employed parents, he had several part-time ventures.

To better manage his first business, Guy pursued a technical foundation at Siena College, studying accounting. Instinctively, he knew his real passion was to build something meaningful that would positively impact people’s lives. This blend of technical skills and ambition would propel him further into his entrepreneurial journey.

Over the Years

1986-1992

Driven by a need for reliable and affordable care, Guy and his mother Joyce establish a home healthcare referral registry. They differentiated themselves by offering referral services and employer services to help lower costs for their clients.

1991

Assuming the clients who hired them to help secure care for their aging parents would also need help with childcare and housekeeping, Guy began A New England Nanny, now the Capital Region’s premier household staffing agency.

1991

Recognizing client needs for greater payroll and tax guidance, Guy founds GTM Payroll Services to help domestic employers.

2001

GTM expands into B2B, adding business payroll and HRIS services for organizations. Around this time, Guy builds GTM’s new corporate headquarters in Clifton Park, NY.

2004

Guy quickly becomes known as a household employment expert. He publishes How to Hire a Nanny, now on its 3rd edition.

2005

GTM’s rapid success in both household and business payroll leads to eight appearances on the INC 5000 list of fastest-growing US private companies.

2007

Noticing select vendors were excluding some of their clients from coverage, GTM was determined to help and begin offering health insurance and worker compensation policies.

2014-2016

GTM reaches a significant milestone, hiring its 50th employee, reflecting the company’s substantial growth and expanding team.

2017

Guy publishes his second book, How to Hire a Senior Caregiver, to help families better navigate the process.

2019

A second major employee milestone is hit, and the 100th GTMer is hired.

2020

To better serve UHNW clients,  GTM begins offering a full Administrative Service Offering (ASO) with payroll, HR and insurance for families.

2021

GTM acquires a leading HR Consulting firm, enabling the creation of a complete ASO model for businesses, encompassing HCM, HR consulting, leave management, employee benefits, and insurance.

2023

To offer more robust insurance offerings to both businesses and households, GTM significantly invests in making GTM Insurance Agency an independent, full-service brokerage with a full group of carriers.

The GTM timeline demonstrates a powerful blend of unwavering persistence, innovative leadership, and a dedication to both clients and employees. All of this was achieved while maintaining a deep commitment to corporate social responsibility and charitable giving. From its humble beginnings to becoming a nationally recognized independent payroll, HR and insurance services leader, GTM’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence and a forward-thinking approach to meeting the evolving needs of businesses and household employers.
