Added as an amendment to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gtm.com\/household\/chicago-minimum-wage-increase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Minimum Wage Ordinance<\/a>\u00a0(and\u00a0now named the Chicago Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave Ordinance), the new law requires\u00a0all employers in the city of Chicago to provide paid sick leave to employees.<\/p>\n<p>Employees are covered by the law if they physically perform\u00a0work within\u00a0the geographic boundaries of Chicago\u00a0for at least two hours\u00a0in any two-week period, and\u00a0are eligible for paid sick leave if they work at least 80 hours within any 120-day period.<\/p>\n<p>Employers must adhere to the law if they employ at least one person\u00a0while operating\u00a0a business within the city borders and are\u00a0subjected to city license requirements.\u00a0The Ordinance applies to all employers, regardless of the number of employees, applies to both exempt and non-exempt workers, and\u00a0explicitly provides that it applies to domestic workers.<\/p>\n<p>One hour of paid sick leave accrues for every 40 hours worked, and employees begin accruing on the first calendar day after employment begins.
