{"id":5008,"date":"2014-09-10T14:45:33","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T18:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gtm.com\/household\/?p=5008"},"modified":"2016-02-24T14:52:56","modified_gmt":"2016-02-24T19:52:56","slug":"california-paid-sick-leave-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gtm.com\/household\/california-paid-sick-leave-law\/","title":{"rendered":"California Paid Sick Leave Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5010 img-rounded\" alt=\"california paid sick leave law\" src=\"https:\/\/gtm.com\/household\/wp-content\/uploads\/sick-businessman-300x199.jpg\" width=\"270\" height=\"179\" \/>The California paid sick leave law, also known as the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utsandiego.com\/news\/2014\/sep\/09\/paid-sick-leave-lorena-gonzalez-1522-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed into law<\/a> by California Governor Jerry Brown, authorizing employers &#8211; including household employers &#8211; in California to provide their employees paid sick leave.<\/p>\n<p>The law provides that an employee who works in California for 30 or more days in a year, beginning July 1, 2015, is entitled to accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. That works out to a minimum of 3 paid sick days (or 24 hours of paid sick time) in each year of employment. Employees are eligible to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.
