The general minimum wage for all tipped workers in the hospitality industry is $7.50 per hour. Employers must give careful attention to the applicable wage order to ensure they take the appropriate credit\/allowance.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.labor.ny.gov\/formsdocs\/wp\/LS207.3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Get more information, including specific rates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>2019 Salary Threshold for Exempt Employees<\/h2>\n<p>To be exempt from the payment of overtime,\u00a0administrative\u00a0and\u00a0executive\u00a0employees must (among other things) be paid a certain\u00a0minimum weekly salary amount.\u00a0Each time the New York State minimum wage increases,\u00a0the minimum salary required\u00a0(under state law)\u00a0for executive and administrative employees increases proportionately. The dollar amount of the salary threshold also depends on the employer&#8217;s\u00a0location\u00a0(and\u00a0size, if located in New York City).<\/p>\n<p>These new thresholds, effective December 31, 2018:<\/p>\n<p>New York City, 11 or more employees: $1,125 per week ($58,500 per year)<br \/>\nNew York City, 10 or fewer employees: $1,012.50 per week ($52,650.00 per year)<br \/>\nNassau, Suffolk &amp; Westchester counties (all employer sizes): $900.00 per week ($46,800.00 per year)<br \/>\nAll other parts of the state (all employer sizes): $832.00 per week ($43,264.00 per year)<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t wait until it&#8217;s too late to be compliant with state labor laws.
