There may be an easily resolved misunderstanding about what their\u00a0signature on this document means.<\/p>\n<p>If that conversation doesn\u2019t solve the problem, and you still want\u00a0the\u00a0employee to work for you, then it needs to be made clear\u00a0that failure to sign the handbook does not mean\u00a0exemption from the policies and procedures within it. The employee\u00a0will be expected to follow the same rules and will be held to the same standards as their\u00a0co-workers, regardless of whether you have the\u00a0signature on file.<\/p>\n<p>If the employee\u00a0persists in their refusal to sign, ask the employee\u00a0to write \u201cI refuse to sign\u201d on the acknowledgement form, along with the date. You should write \u201cemployee refused to sign\u201d along with your own signature, and if possible, call in another manager to witness this and sign off as well.
