What about for remote employees? This labor poster location guide should help.

Generally, federal workplace posters must be displayed in conspicuous places where they are easily visible to all employees. Some states have their own workplace posters and posting requirements as well – check with your state’s labor department for more information. To comply with these legal requirements, employers typically place all workplace posters in a break room or similar location frequented by employees.

Interestingly, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Employee Polygraph Protection (EPPA) posters must be placed where they can be seen by applicants for employment.

If your applicants and interviewees also come in through an employee entrance, it may be okay to move the posters there. We would suggest, however, that you keep the posters in a breakroom or lunchroom. That way it can never be said that employees don’t have access to the required postings, and you won’t jeopardize your compliance with the posting requirements.

If you have any remote employees, it’s important that they have access to the same information as office staff. If a remote employee visits the office regularly – at least once per quarter – and the posters were visible during their orientation, that will satisfy the posting requirement. Labor posters can also be posted on the company intranet or a shared file location so employees can access it from anywhere at any time. You can also send posters to remote employees via mail, email, or fax. Remember that as with office staff, remote employees must be able to access the poster information whenever laws change and new posters are produced.

GTM offers a simple, affordable Labor Poster Compliance service to clients that allows them to receive replacement posters at no additional charge. Contact us at (518) 373-4111 for more information.

Can you display your labor posters anywhere, or do they need to be in a specific location?
