Minimum Wage Increase in Missouri

Nov 25, 2014 | Household Payroll & Taxes, Tax & Wage Laws

minimum wage increase in missouriLast week it was announced that there will be a minimum wage increase in Missouri in 2015. This change comes from a state law that requires that minimum hourly wage paid to employees be adjusted yearly to match the cost of living. On January 1st, 2015 Missouri’s minimum wage will increase from $7.50 per hour to $7.65 per hour. Additionally, the tipped employee minimum wage will increase from $3.75 per hour to $3.825 per hour (assuming the employee earns enough in tips such that hourly tips plus the hourly pay totals $7.65 per hour or more).

Missouri joins over a dozen other states that will see increases in their minimum wage beginning next year. We recommend that household employers review the pay rates of their nannies or other household employees to ensure that they are in compliance with the new minimum rates before the new year.
